Location: 58 miles South of Lewiston on Hwy 95 or 15 miles North of Grangeville on Hwy 95

The settlement of Cottonwood originated its unique name from the black cottonwood trees that grew along the creek, a species considered the largest poplar in North America. Cottonwood is a small community located on the Camas Prairie steeped in agriculture.

You’ll know you have arrived when you see the World’s Largest Beagle greeting you along Hwy 95, Dog Bark Park Inn B&B. Stay over at the most unique B&B in the world as stated by Trip Advisor, MSN, The London Times and many others. Visit the artist studio and see your “best friend” represented in one of a kind folk-style carvings.

Just a short drive from Cottonwood is the century old Monastery of St Gertrude, located on 150 acres of timber and rich prairie land with views of the canyons and wilderness areas. A hub of activity for the prairie the public is always welcome. Here you’ll find one of the best museums in the region, The Historical Museum at St Gertrudes. The museum houses a treasure of artifacts showcasing the history of north central Idaho. View special exhibits, including the story of the Benedictine Sisters, the Nez Perce people, Polly Bemis and Buckskin Bill. Discover the Rhoades Emmanuel Gallery – a collection of rare, exquisite Asian and European artifacts dating to the 14th century. Just recently opened, the Inn at St Gertrudes , one of the newest B&B’s in the region. Make a note to come to Cottonwood the 1st Sunday of August for the Annual Raspberry Festival. A fun-filled day celebrating the raspberry harvest at St Gertrudes you’ll enjoy the activities while getting your fill of the nuns special recipe of raspberry shortcake.
