Nearly 4 million acres of wilderness area are located in North Central Idaho. Three designated wilderness areas, Selway-Bitterroot, Gospel Hump, and Frank-Church River of No Return, make up the Clearwater Region, with endless recreational opportunities and a chance to truly get away from it all.
Trace the steps of Lewis & Clark from their passage to the Pacific. The Northwest Passage Scenic Byway an All American Road and part of the Top 10 Scenic Drives in the Northern Rockies winds through the Clearwater Region from the Montana/Idaho border to Lewiston.
Art galleries, museums, shopping and friendly folks round out the many communities located in the region. Festivals and community events are hosted throughout the year. Visitors are always welcome and this is a great way to experience Americana at it's best! Communities in this region are Lowell, Sryinga, Kooskia, Stites, Weippe, Pierce, Orofino, Ahsahka, Elk River, Kendrick & Juliaetta.
