Warm summers, mild winters, and endless recreational opportunities make Lewis-Clark Country a year-round destination spot. Hells Canyon, North America's deepest gorge, draws thousands of visitors here each year from all over the United States and around the world.
World-class fishing (steelhead, salmon, trout, bass, sturgeon) and hunting (deer, chukar, elk, big horn sheep) attract residents and visitors alike to Lewis-Clark Country. The expansive river systems of the Snake, Clearwater, and Grande Ronde promise fishermen a favorite spot to call their own.
Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington are the hub cities of Lewis-Clark Valley Country. Lewiston is the site of Idaho's first capital, which was later moved to Boise. This town boasts Idaho's only seaport, and one of three port facilities serving the Lewis-Clark valley. Just across the state line in Washington, Clarkston, began as a ferry landing on the west side of the Snake. Named in honor of William Clark, Clarkston was the last community settled in what is now Asotin County, Washington.
