The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude The place to REDISCOVER the history of North Central Idaho.

From the eastern slope of Cottonwood Butte, The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude Monastery commands a breathtaking view of the Camas Prairie near Cottonwood, Idaho.

The museum, located on the Camas Prairie, has served north central Idaho since 1931, making it one of the oldest continuously operated museums in the Northwest. People come from all over to enjoy the museum's exhibits, to take advantage of it's extensive research resources and to learn about the area.

Today, the museum's purpose is to preserve the rich heritage of North Central Idaho. It's modern 7,200 square-foot facility houses collections comprising over 70,000 artifacts, with 12,000 on display. Not only is each object preserved for posterity, but the story of those who once possessed the object is also remembered and retold in order to keep our heritage alive.
